Karen Balonze, MD is a member of Summit Medical Group’s Internal Medicine team. Prior to joining SMG, Dr. Balonze practiced as a General Internist with New Jersey Associates in Medicine. She is committed to providing compassionate and quality care in the outpatient setting. She looks forward to building long-lasting relationships with her patients and their families. Dr. Karen Balonze is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Balonze graduated cum laude with a Bachelors of Art in Environmental Biology from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York, NY. Prior to embarking on her medical career, Karen Balonze worked in the laboratory of Nobel Laureate Dr. Richard Axel in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY. Her time spent working in molecular neurobiology culminated in publication in the prestigious journal Nature.
Dr. Balonze went on to receive her Doctorate of Medicine from UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. She continued her medical training as an internal medicine resident at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where she received the Dr. Robert S Pinals Award for Humanism & Professionalism as a 2nd year resident.
