November 16, 2017 – Today marks the opening of Summit Medical Group’s newest art exhibition: Different Strokes for Different Folks: Celebrating the Diversity of our Communities Though Art. The collection showcases 128 works from 22 New Jersey artists and includes paintings, photography, mixed media and sculpture that celebrate the rich diversity of our communities.
The community is invited to attend a free opening reception this evening from 5-8 pm at SMG’s Berkeley Heights campus, 1 Diamond Hill Road, Lawrence Pavilion, First Floor Gallery and Café Conference Center. The event will feature an open viewing of the new art exhibition, a meet-and-greet with the artists, and live-cross cultural performances by local community members and organizations.
The latest curation by Elizabeth Wiech, SMG’s space planner, the art show is designed to rejoice in the diversity of people in all forms, including gender, age, ability, race and cultural heritage. “The more we celebrate the differences in people, the more similarities we find that bind us together,” says Elizabeth Wiech.
The artists featured in Different Strokes for Different Folks are as follows:
Over the years, an array of art exhibits has been on display at Summit Medical Group as part of its commitment to provide caring, nurturing environments throughout its buildings. This includes fine art photographs, sculptures, stained glass, and other art pieces in the lobbies and waiting rooms at SMG’s many locations.
The current exhibition will be on display through summer 2018. All of the artwork is available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds to go to Summit Medical Group Foundation.
